What Can I Expect When I Rent a Storage Unit?
Renting your first storage unit is easy and takes only 90 seconds
Once you’ve chosen the storage unit you want, select it and lock in your rate online, over the phone, or in person. You’ll enter some personal information and the card you want on file. After that, you’re all set for your move-in day!
On the day of move-in, you’ll finalize paperwork with the facility manager, including signing your rental agreement. You aren’t signing a long-term lease; a rental agreement outlines facility rules, due dates, and procedures. After that, you’re ready to move your belongings into one of our storage units in West Little Rock, AR!
What to Know About Storing With Us
Get prepared for your move-in and store with confidence
Rentals are Month-to-Month
You don’t have to sign a long-term lease. Most storage facilities include a rental agreement, but it doesn’t lock you in. You’ll pay for a month at a time, and can move out whenever you don’t need your storage unit. Because rent is on a month-to-month basis, prices may fluctuate at some storage facilities. Spaces Storage features a 1-year rate lock that keeps your rent the same price for 12 months so that there are no surprises.
Use Airtight Containers
Sealed, airtight containers keep your belongings in better condition. Make sure your containers have no moisture in them and seal them with clear, visible labels for easier access. A bag of Damprid will also keep humidity in the unit low, though you’ll get the best coverage with a climate-controlled storage unit.
Leave a Walkway When You Store
Just measuring your belongings and choosing a storage unit that matches their area exactly leaves you no room to walk around in your storage unit. And if you need to get to something in the back, you’ll have a hard time getting there! Consider leaving space for a walkway in your storage unit so you can easily see labeled containers, with enough room to pull them out for easier access.
Choosing a Storage Unit Type
If you’re storing durable items or gear you’ll access often, you might enjoy the convenience of a drive-up storage unit. These units let you park right in front of your storage unit door for direct unloading.
For long-term storage or items sensitive to temperature or humidity, we recommend a climate-controlled storage unit. People often use storage units for furniture, which benefits from either type of storage: drive-up storage units give you easier access when loading or unloading, while climate-controlled storage units keep your stored furniture in the best condition.
When in doubt, choose based on the amount of time you’re storing. Anything longer than two months, and you’re best served by a climate-controlled storage unit. You can rent a storage unit online in just 90 seconds today!
